Hunchback of Notre Dame 1923 History of Book Lon Chaney:

The Hunchback of Notre Dame, 1923, was acclaimed as the first million dollar production. Of all of Lon Chaney's films he is remembered for this production and The Phantom of the Opera. The Foreword is by Chaney's co-star Patsy Ruth Miller - Production Background by George Turner ASC and it includes a facsimile of the director, Wallace Worsley's personal annotated shooting script by Edward T. Lowe and Perley Poore Sheehan. Today, all that exists are 16mm copies of an heavily edited version. If a 35mm print of the film is never rediscovered, this books will be the only representation of how the actual full length film appeared when it first premiered in 1923.
